Your Guidebook for Reaching Reluctant Readers

If you are the parent of a reluctant reader, or maybe the teacher of a roomful of students who are anything BUT excited about reading, consider this site as a resource that can help you change that attitude in the hearts and minds of those youngsters.

This website is intended to help parents, teachers, and librarians find books that will get kids excited about reading.

Welcome to Kidz & Books!

“Once upon a time …”

For many who grew up reading fairy tales (like I did), those words open the doors of imagination as we anticipate what comes next.

Unfortunately, many youngsters these days prefer watching stories on screens instead of in books. However, if they happen to stumble across a good book through a friend or maybe a teacher, those youngsters CAN become book fanatics – excited about reading stories in print the old-fashioned way.

Exposing children to good books happens in many ways

  • Teachers reading aloud to classrooms in elementary school
  • Parents taking their children to the library on a regular basis
  • Librarians suggesting books to children who may be looking for something interesting to read
